How a Book Became Another, Using Die-Cutting

The very same man who turned at least two of my friends vegetarian, author Jonathan Safran Foer used the old die-cutting method on a book’s pages, to create a whole new book.

Working with Bruno Schulz’s The Street of Crocodiles as the basis for his revamped book, he cut away at the pages to display words and sentence from later pages. This video demonstrates how the pages were created, though unfortunately there’s no painstaking footage of Safran Foer deliberating over each and every word. [Flickr via Visual Editions via Fastco]
