As expected and wished for, HP won't use Windows 7 in their incoming HP Slate, but their newly acquired Palm WebOS. At least, that's what Monty Wong—vice-president of personal computing systems at HP Taiwan—said to Digitimes.

Wong declared that HP will adopt WebOS for both "smartphones and tablets", but not for notebooks. He also pointed out that the HP Slate—their newest tablet—will hit the market before October, with a "wide range" of software support at launch.

Well Microsoft themselves could have, had Ballmer actually listened to Allard. Still the slate being rehashed with WebOS is interesting. I get the feeling that unless the specs are changed the internals are going to be overkill for a smartphone OS tablet.
