In a brief statement, Hulu's management announced the video streaming service is no longer for sale. Here's what they said,

"Since Hulu holds a unique and compelling strategic value to each of its owners, we have terminated the sale process and look forward to working together to continue mapping out its path to even greater success. Our focus now rests solely on ensuring that our efforts as owners contribute in a meaningful way to the exciting future that lies ahead for Hulu."

That's a formal way of saying we couldn't find a high enough bidder so we're going to take our lucrative licensing deals and do it without y'all. [Hulu]

DISCUSSION

How to make Hulu better:

Step 1: Have all shows available the day after they air. Have availability set for a shorter amount of time in order to increase paid subscribers.

Step 2: Get rid of ads for paid subscribers. Increase costs if need to. Create tiers if needed (Hulu+ as is now to gain access to more shows, but a higher fee for no ads)

Step 3: Expand to all platforms (i.e., mobile, gaming, etc.). This includes the free shows. Create more ways to watch on the TV.

Step 4: Ink deals with more major networks. HBO, Showtime, CBS, etc.

Step 5: Have certain TV shows behind a pay wall: HBO, Showtime, etc. Assure they are updated the day after for paid subscribers.

Step 6: Create sync between devices. Can stop watching on your phone, pick back up on your computer.

Step 7: Create a better way to create a target audience for advertisers. Potentially using Facebook?

Step 8: Assist indie developers, create exclusive series to drive people to website.

Step 9: Expand outside USA into foreign markets.

Step 10: Achieve more exclusive shows from around the world.

Only 10 easy steps, right?
