Finding a way into an entirely new universe of superheroes can be the type of herculean effort that keeps people from checking out comics from publishers they aren’t familiar with. But with Valiant High, Valiant Comics has found the perfect way to introduce you to its sprawling cast of characters.
The Valiant Universe is an awfully big place filled with gods, monsters, ghosts, and superheroes from all walks of life. The sheer size of the publisher’s catalog is something of a double-edged sword because while there’s likely something for everyone, it can be difficult to figure out just where to begin and how to become familiar with who’s who. Valiant High takes all of the universe’s major players like Peter Stancheck, Livewire, and Faith, turns them into teenagers and drops them into a high school setting for young people with superpowers.
Certain characters, like Bloodshot and Dr. Mirage, are reimagined as overworked teachers and the entire series, written by Daniel Kibblesmith with illustrations from Derek Charm and David Baron, revolves around a good, old-fashioned mystery that brings everyone together. Originally, Valiant High was released as a digital-only four-part series, but this May, it’ll be in print at your local stores for the first time with all-new variant covers from Sina Grace and Dan Parent.
On the off chance you haven’t checked out Valiant High yet, now’s your chance—we’ve got you covered with a 10-page preview and the first look at those variant covers:
Valiant proudly presents its first all-ages escapade with a pitch-perfect entry point for new fans and longtime readers alike! Before they became legends, the world’s most formidable heroes were roaming the halls at Valiant High – a super-powered preparatory academy where Aric “X-O Manowar” Dacia is a record-setting running back, Colin “Ninjak” King is a debonair foreign exchange student, and Coach Bloodshot is way, way too into dodgeball. Now, Amanda “Livewire” McKee and her best friend, Faith “Zephyr” Herbert, are taking it all in for the first time at the one high school where power trumps popularity!
Valiant High’s first print run hits stores May 30th.
