The subject of this photograph isn't an undead monster dragging its bones across the beach or some macabre temple designed to line up with the sun. It's just the sun peeking through the hollow eye of an ordinary fish skull.
Photographer Mike Dotsch took this picture after he happened upon this skeleton:
Came upon these fish bones while walking on the shore of Lake Huron near Alpena, Michigan. I lowered my old bones to sand level and caught the sun peeking through his empty, sandy eyes.
It's amazing how otherworldly something so ordinary can look, seen from the proper angle.
