As much as we really want it, All Things Digital’s Peter Kafka says a cloud-based, streaming music option from Apple ain’t in the cards. At least, not tomorrow. Why? Music label execs are in the dark about the announcement too.

Kafka explains it thusly:
So unless Apple wants to make them go ballistic – and freak out the movie and TV studios, the folks that Steve Jobs really wants to court – it’s hard to see Apple announcing a service without signed paperwork.
Makes sense to us, unfortunately—after their unsuccessful struggle to get content providers onboard for Apple TV rentals, we don’t see them cloudifying content as a solo operation. Sigh. [All Things D via MacRumors]
