io9 Book Club Reminder: August's pick is N.K. Jemisin's "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms"

If you want to join us for the io9 Book Club this month, be sure to start reading N.K. Jemisin's The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, to prepare for our August 30 meeting. But wait - what is this io9 Book Club?

Allow me to explain. For those unfamiliar with the io9 book club, here's how it works: You read the book. We create a special book club post on io9 when the meeting is in session (it starts Monday the 30th), and everybody talks about the book in comments for a few days. Later that week, N.K. Jemisin will join us, so you can ask her burning questions you have about the book (and about the sequel, which is coming out soon!).

Want to know more about The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms? You can read our review of it here, where we said:

Some of the best fantasy epics involve political intrigue, mingled with the immanence of all-too-flawed gods. If the gods themselves connive too, so much the better. N.K. Jemisin's Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is a wonderful example of this type of epic.

So get reading, and we'll meet up to talk about it on August 30.
