We were hoping for it, and it looks as though will actually get the iPhone 2.1 update on Friday. Word is that the free update will "fix a lot of bugs." Expect less call drops, crashes, better battery life, and a faster sync (thank God). Still no copy and paste though. Bumnmer. UPDATE: Current iPod touch owners will have to spend $10 to get the 2.1 software via iTunes—unless you purchased 2.0. For those users it is a free update. It is also included free with the purchase of a new unit.
DISCUSSION
Sod cut-and-paste or any other additions, just get the damn thing working.
After trying to install an update via the App Store on the phone this morning and it failing I was left with every time I turned it on it asking for the iTunes password. It took a complete restore without restoring the backup to get it working again (MobileMe was actually useful as it restored the calendar/contacts).
If they don't fix these sort of stupid bugs (iTunes has many copies of the same app now too) it will be the last Apple product I buy. They have seriously gone downhill since I bought a Mac.
