A tenuously sourced rumor over at MacDailyNews has it that Apple's $100 per year MobileMe service will soon be free. Gratis. And it's about time.
It's easy to see how free MobileMe would fit into an overarching cloud strategy for Apple: by offering photos, mail, and Find My Phone free in the cloud, they'll be able to draw people in and focus on iAd and content revenue.
