The Vampire Diaries' Claire Holt is in the running to play Kara Zor-El, the Kryptonian better known as Supergirl in CBS's upcoming superhero TV series. I don't know Holt's work on VD (hey, that's how The CW abbreviates the show), so you tell me — is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I also don't know how close or far Holt is to nabbing the role, but at least this tidbit brings a bit more info about the show with it. Here's a quick synopsis courtesy of The Wrap:

The one-hour drama project, which has received a series commitment from CBS, will follow the exploits of Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin (also known as Superman). But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

I'm really curious how CBS is going to do a Supergirl show without ever including Superman, which I presume will continue to be Warner Bros.' edict. I'm also curious how much they'll be able to reference him or even if they can mention him by name. I'm additionally curious about what suit Supergirl will wear, if any — the classic version or the New 52 outfit? I'm just a curious dude, I guess.

She is amazing on the vampire diaries and the originals. To be honest she was my first choice for the part plus they can get her on the cheap and put that extra money toward the fx budget. Plus sense cbs is the parent company of the cw they already have a working relationship and know here talent, skill, and work ethic. All in all good call all around and a big win for us!
