How do you make a sandwich at home? Grab some bread, slap together some mustard and mayo, throw in some turkey, add some cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions, and then eat it right? That’s what normal people do but that’s a total shortcut. How do you truly make a sandwich at home and from scratch? It involves farming vegetables, milking cows, killing a chicken and so much more.

Andy George of How to Make Everything set out to learn how to do everything that’s involved in ‘making’ a sandwich and the result is pretty incredible. He made bread out of wheat! He turned ocean water into salt! You can follow his entire progress here and see how the sandwich comes together in the video below. George writes:

I spent 6 months and $1500 to completely make a sandwich from scratch. Including growing my own vegetables, making my own salt from ocean water, milking a cow to make cheese, grinding my own flour from wheat, collecting my own honey, and killing a chicken myself.
