Jacob's Ladder is One of the Freakiest Movies Ever, And Now It's Getting a Remake

It’s actually amazing that we’ve gotten to 2016 and nobody’s remade Jacob’s Ladder yet. But it looks like the long-rumored reboot of Adrian Lyne’s highly influential horror thriller—about a Vietnam vet (Tim Robbins) struggling with a very troubled mind—is finally going forth.

According to Variety, Michael Ealy (Think Like a Man, 2 Fast 2 Furious) will star, and the script (by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp) will be more of an inspired-by remake of the mind-bendy 1990 cult classic, rather than a faithful one.

The reboot is a modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers. David Rosenthal, who directed Ealy in “The Perfect Guy,” is set to direct.

The producers are looking to make something more akin to an homage and not mimic the original. The plan is to contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions.

But it’s safe to assume this do-over will still have some kind of heavily foreshadowed yet utterly crazy twist ending, yeah?
