Jailbreaking phones has been legal for just under a year now, and unsurprisingly nerds are making good money off the back of time-poor, money-rich people. The Washington Post has reported on how one Washington student is earning $50,000 a year simply by jailbreaking and unlocking 30 - 40 iPhones a week.
Advertising on Craigslist under the tantalizing subject of "Get Your iPhone Jailbroken Today," the George Mason student has all sorts of customers—even "one customer from the Mongolian embassy who was moving to the capital of Mongolia, and he wanted to use the iPhone there." Of course, Kevin Lee is just one of many who're making money off the back of Apple and the networks, but it'll be interesting to see if the computer science major will stick with his chosen career path or turn his jailbreaking pocket-money into a full-time venture.
