One of the main stars of Disney's John Carter is the land of Barsoom, the fantasy version of Mars from Edgar Rice Burroughs' famous novels. Director Andrew Stanton brought this amazing world to life using Utah and a lot of greenscreen — but it also took a lot of visualization.

Some newly released concept art and other production art from John Carter shows off the shining cities and the rugged landscapes of Barsoom. Plus there's a map!

These images were released as a reward, to people who triumphed over Disney's John Carter: The Lost Symbol game at Disney's games page on Facebook. Thanks to the folks at Barsoomia for playing through the game and posting the resulting images on their site. [via Comic Book Movie]
