As if these micro four thirds-style cameras weren't expensive enough, Leica plans on elbowing its red dotted-elbow in from next year, with a new compact-cam system with an APS-sized sensor at the very least, according to CEO Alfred Schopf.
Telling Amateur Photographer that "you will see something at the next Photokina," the emphasis will be on having the best lenses, as this "will lead to better images...they are expensive but they are leading edge." Or cutting edge, perhaps? Schopf laid one more card on the table during the interview, suggesting that the camera will have an inbuilt EVF option as well.
Considering the relationship between Leica and Panasonic, and Panasonic's healthy reputation for its micro four thirds cameras, the potential to impress is certainly there. I just wonder whether they'll hide the red dot like they did with this week's M9-P launch? [Amateur Photography]
