Life On Mars’ Latest Time-Travel Not Working Out

ABC’s move to air Life On Mars after fellow time-travel show Lost has affected the ratings… in the opposite way that it was intended. Did Lost just blow too many people’s minds?

Last week’s much-advertised episode of Life On Mars, the first in its new Wednesday timeslot at 10pm, was the least viewed of the season to date, with only 6.5 million viewers – almost half as many as had just finished watching Lost, and more than a million less than its previous episode. With the series having lost almost 5 million viewers in eight episodes (The premiere drew 11.33 million) and the much-anticipated Lost ratings bump not materializing, the future of Sam Tyler’s trip into the past is beginning to look a lot less rosy than the network would’ve hoped when they extended the first season order in November.
