The Inquirer is reporting that many customers are having problems using Apple’s new Mac mini with CRT monitors, an error that is tentatively being blamed on a shoddy DVI-to-VGA convertor. If you’re using a Mac mini on a CRT and it seems too dark or doesn’t show up at all, be sure to make some noise on Apple’s support forums, at the very least. Since half the mini’s appeal is its ability to be used with older, otherwise cast-out equipment (like old CRTs), it could be a fairly big deal.
Some have reported success by clipping off a couple of pins on the converter. Snip at your own risk.
