Margaret Atwood draws Twitter-based superheroes

What if Margaret Atwood gave up her career as a novelist and turned her attention to drawing superhero comics? She gives us a taste with her drawings of Twitter users as superpowered incarnations of their user names.

It all began when Joel Topf — a nephrologist who Tweets as @kidney_boy — recommended Atwood’s Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood to @DrSnit via Twitter. Atwood herself joined in on the Twitter conversation, thanking Topf and quickly offering to draw both Kidney Boy and Dr. Snit as superheroes. The drawings quickly followed.

Of course, knowing Atwood, she’ll probably later deny that these drawings represent superheroes on the grounds that magical flying kidney helpers are technologically possible.
