Marvel’s Mysterious New Show Is Actually Called ‘Zodiac’

Who or what it's about we don't know, but the news broke at New York Comic Con.

For a few weeks, Marvel fans had heard that Marvel Television was secretly developing a show called “Zodiac.” Because that word is so synonymous with symbols, mystery, and intrigue, we all assumed it was code for something else. But as it turns out, it is not. At New York Comic Con, Marvel just announced that a new series called Zodiac is coming to Disney+ in 2028.

Here’s a clip of the official announcement. You see the logo above.

So, what the heck is Zodiac about? Who is in it? Marvel, so far, isn’t saying. All we know is that it’s a “spy thriller” and there are at least two clues staring us right in the face. “If you’re a fan of the comics, there’s a lot hidden in that logo,” Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum said at NYCC. “That’s all you’re getting. It’s supposed to be a secret.”

The first is the “O” in Zodiac. That looks like one of Tony Stark’s Arc Reactors. Now, clearly, Tony Stark isn’t going to show up on a Disney+ show. But is there a Tony Stark-like character whose story is still dangling on Disney+? Yes, there is. Riri Williams. Aka Ironheart. So maybe she’s part of this show.

But then there’s the “A.” That certainly looks like the logo for S.H.I.E.L.D. And if this is a show with S.H.I.E.L.D. in it? Strap in. Does that mean we’re looking at the Nick Fury-type S.H.I.E.L.D. that has been at the forefront of the movies and even had its own Disney+ show (kind of) in Secret Invasion? Or could this be Marvel’s way to bring back cast members from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., in the same way they did with characters from the Netflix shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage?

You can almost start to see where those stories could cross over too, right? Riri’s technological prowess. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s need to help people. And didn’t Riri literally make a deal with the devil at the end of her show? Could we get Mephisto back here?

Also, if you look at the comics, there was a Marvel group called Zodiac, made up of characters based on astrological signs. We doubt this is related in any way to that, but it’s worth mentioning. And was probably the inspiration, at least for the title.

Unless, and stick with us on this, but since “Zodiac” was thought to be just a placeholder name, could it still be that? Could Marvel be trying to pull a fast one on us, as it has in the past? It seems possible.

We’ll have more on Zodiac, or whatever the heck it is, when we know more.
