Artist Joseph Alvernaz created this 10-foot-tall by 12-foot-wide replica of Gondor’s capital city without adhesives, using only sand, water, and a single brace to reinforce the top tower. (Birds kept hitting it.) He says this was his first major sand sculpture, but it’s impressive enough that we can almost believe it’s real at sunset:
