Math goes surreal in the trailer for Terry Gilliam's The Zero Theorem

Christoph Waltz searches for the mathematical meaning of life in the trailer for Terry Gilliam's The Zero Theorem. It's filled with Gilliam's trademark gorgeous, absurd visuals with a healthy dose of corporate dystopia. Update: Video removed from YouTube.

This isn't the official trailer for The Zero Theorem (as you can see from the watermark), but is likely meant to entice distributors. Still, it's nice to see a return to Gilliam's brain and his gigantic visual ideas combined with Waltz's performance as the computer genius given an impossible task. Here is the synopsis from Wikipedia:

Qohen Leth is an eccentric and reclusive computer genius who lives in an Orwellian corporate world and suffers from existential angst. Under the instruction of a shadowy figure known only as "Management", Qohen works to solve the "Zero Theorem" – a mathematical formula which will finally determine whether life has any meaning. Qohen's work in the burnt-out chapel that serves as his home is interrupted by visits from Bainsley, a seductive woman, and Bob, the teenage son of Management.

Holy fucking god. Why was this not even on my radar? I swear, that Gilliam....he is either fighting tooth and nail to get a film made or he's making one in a single weekend in complete secrecy.

If I were a multi-billionaire I would personally bankroll a MASSIVE sci-fi blockbuster for Terry Gilliam to direct. Anything he wanted, he could have. Money would be no object.

Basically I'd want another Munchausen. To this day that film has the greatest, most sumptuous production design I've ever seen. And this Zero Theorem looks to be quite stylish itself! I'm hyped! Go Terry go!
