Remember that Microsoft 2019 video? Lifehacker found someone so enamored with the computer desktop in the video that he went ahead and skinned his own desktop (presumably Vista), so that looks and (kinda) functions similarly.

Created by Lifehacker reader Painkilla05 (love the name), he used a variety of available widgets and utilities, including a stacks dock, a rss reader, a weather widget and a tool that displays text file content directly on your desktop. He hacked them together into this desktop, which looks highly functional and wholly futuristic. The icons occupying the left bottom corner of the screen are especially neat. Be sure to check out other entries in Lifehacker’s Flickr pool of custom computer desktops. [Lifehacker]
