Joss Whedon shot a whole different opening to The Avengers that starts with a debriefing of one very pissed off Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders). This version perfectly demonstrates the fractured relationship between Nick Fury and Hill (something the director mentioned was cut down quite a bit in the edit room). We suspect the DVD will be stuffed with a lot more tension between these two S.H.I.E.L.D. members. It’s a whole different opening, with a much darker tone. Very cool.
