Heroes may about to get some costumed company on NBC next season. The peacock network has given the go-ahead for a pilot for a new superhero drama that promises to mix emotional fireworks with the special effect fights.
NBC has picked up The Cape, an hour long drama created by sword-and-sandal miniseries Empire creator Tom Wheeler. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show centers around a disgraced former LA cop who takes up the superhero lifestyle in order to clear his name and reunite with his son. Amongst those producing the series is former Angel and Buffy producer Gail Berman.
