Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie is gaining steam really quickly. The latest news comes courtesy of a Sky Movies interview with Sigourney Weaver and Blomkamp himself, where the two of them lay out where they want this film to go.
In the interview below, Blomkamp insinuates that the movie could overwrite Alien 3 entirely, saying “I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens. So it’s, Alien, Aliens, this movie.” That, plus Weaver saying that she wants to give Ripley a ‘proper finish,’ strongly indicates that this film is going to overwrite Alien 3 and possibly Alien: Resurrection as a sort of mid-boot to the franchise.
