Netflix founder Reed Hastings has joined the Microsoft board of directors, indicating a cozy relationship between the two companies. While no actual business deals between the big M and Netflix have been announced, a partnership could benefit them both greatly in the current marketplace. What with TiVo and Amazon joined at the hip with their on-demand service, Netflix could use a little help getting into people’s living rooms with a physical set-top box. And who knows about weaseling into customers homes better than Microsoft?
While there’s no concrete info as to what will come of this relationship, reliable sources tell us that Microsoft will be announcing “exciting partnerships” later this week. Could this mean Netflix? Netflix VOD on the Xbox 360 Elite, perhaps? Let’s make it happen, Reed.
