The house in Never After Dark doesn’t have those Amityville Horror-style eye-shaped windows, but there’s still a sense that something within is keeping watch. As writer-director Dave Boyle‘s new horror movie explores, the place hides a secret tied to a ghost so intrusive its new owner hires a traveling medium named Airi (Shogun‘s Moeka Hoshi) to do a psychic cleanse.
Though we don’t glimpse the spirit in this exclusive clip from an early scene in Never After Dark, we can sense its presence. It’s not a friendly one.
The clock with an erratic timekeeping schedule is one thing. The door opening by itself is another. But the vibes in that room with the flickering lamp are just very, very unnerving.

Never After Dark also stars Kento Kaku, Kurumi Inagaki, Mutsuo Yoshioka, Bokuzo Masana, and Tae Kimura. It hits theaters starting September 25 after picking up several festival awards, including the SXSW Midnighter Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize for Feature Film at the Overlook Film Festival.
