Ars Technica notes that Apple has released another iTunes Windows SDK (Software Development Kit), this one exposing some functionality through Windows’ COM interface that will let developers control certain functions of iTunes via other programs like, say, Winamp. What that means to you is that very shortly we can expect plug-ins for other media players that would facilitate the playback of AAC files restricted by Apple’s Fairplay DRM, giving iTunes Music Store a way to sell its wares to those that don’t like iTunes as a music library manager.
