Or, at least, that's what Dredd creator John Wagner says, having seen not only comic book artist Jock's production designs but also 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland's script. Instead, he says, this may be the real thing.

Talking to fansite 2000AD Online, Wagner said:

I have read the script by Alex Garland and seen Jock's visuals. While I can't go into detail about the content I can say that it's high-octane, edge of the seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie. I hated that plot. It was Dredd pressed through the Hollywood cliché mill, a dynastic power struggle that had little connection with the character we know from the comic. Confident [about it being a better movie]? I will be once I hear they've started filming. There's many a slip.

Considering that Danny Boyle is producing this new version, we're hopeful that the movie will stay true to its roots, and look forward to seeing something better than Sly Stallone taking off his helmet too often. Dredd deserves more.

Rob Schneider saying "Mr. I am the Law" is the best part of that movie. Here's hoping for the best!
