Who's ready to explore the dark seedy underworld of George Lucas' Coruscant? New details about the mysterious, live-action Star Wars TV show have surfaced, comparing it to the The Godfather. Which means two things: alien gangsters and space hookers!

In an interview with the Czech Position LucasFilm producer Rick McCallum spilled quite a few details about the hotly anticipated Star Wars TV series. First and foremost, he explained a little bit more about what would be going on in the series, and whom it would focus on:

"It takes place between episodes three and four, when Luke Skywalker was growing up as a teenager, but it has nothing to do with Luke... Basically, it is like ‘The Godfather'; it's the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it's [about] a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution."

We'd love to see a darker side of Star Wars - let's just hope the script steers clear of tedious politico gabbing. But don't get too excited yet — McCallum also admitted that the whole project is now on hold for another three or four years while the crew finds a way to film this ambitious project without breaking the bank.

"We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don't have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years."

We would ask them to pull on the ear of Frank Darabont — his Walking Dead VFX team may not have been cheap but they certainly created amazing scenes with the footage they worked on.

So while it may be five years until we see any sort of Star Wars TV, hopefully this will give them time to make it even better, or dirtier. Either would make us happy.
