The new trailer for the much-troubled World War Z is out. And yes, there's a lot of Brad Pitt, and yes, there are zombies. But in lieu of fascinating political drama and heartbreaking tales of survival, we get a Roland Emmerich-worthy disaster flick, with reanimated bodies in lieu of earthquakes and rising tides.
We've known for some time that the film version of World War Z wasn't going to take the "oral history" tack that made the book so powerful — but this first trailer gives us a clearer sense of what we are in for. A lot of Brad Pitt's heroic journey to save the world, plenty of American military perspective, and zombies tearing down structures like mindless disaster-bots. It's not quite the zompocalypse we were hoping for. [Apple Trailers]
