Since the launch of the FuelBand a year ago, many were wondering when Nike might deploy an Android companion app. Droid Life spotted that yesterday via its Support account on Twitter, Nike quasi-officially said that it is not working on an Android app.

And today, Nike has confirmed with Gizmodo that an Android app is not in the works:

To deliver the best experience for all Nike+ FuelBand users, we are focusing on the FuelBand experience across iOS and, where you can sync your activity, set new goals, and connect with friends. At this time, we are not working on an Android version of the mobile app.

I bought a Fuelband because they said the Android app would be ready in June 2012. And now they changed their minds?

That's pretty scummy honestly. Android has eclipsed iOS in popularity and activations now and is selling better. It's not the end of the world because you have to charge the Fuelband every few days anyway (so I just plug it in to my computer to sync and charge) but the dishonesty is really grinding my gears.
