No Napster 2.0 for the iPod

Wired News reports that the iPod, which just happens to be the world’s most popular MP3 player, won’t play music files downloaded from the new Napster 2.0 music service. Why? Because the new Napster uses only Windows Media Audio files, not MP3s, and the iPod doesn’t support that format. The workaround is to burn tracks downloaded from Napster 2.0 to a CD and then rip the CD into MP3s, but that is probably more trouble than it’s worth for most iPod owners, especially with iTunes for Windows just around the corner.
