We hate to get bogged down in too much of the inside baseball of the cellular industry (or any industry, for that matter), but we couldn’t help but chuckle when we read this article on Forbes.com about how the CEO of Verizon has been getting hate mail. But not from subscribers. The mail is from other people in the rest of the industry upset about his decision to came out in favor of number portability. It’s a smart move, especially considering the great well of animosity that has built up against the industry: one report predicts that nine million people are planning to switch carriers on November 24th, the very first day that the number portability rules go into effect.
