Park Chan-Wook, director of the Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and who just produced Snowpiercer, has been tapped to direct Second Born.

Second Born sounds like a great fit for Park, as it takes place in a “futuristic” world where neural microchip implants store consciousness. Which, human nature being what it is, leads to people heading to the black market to switch bodies. In addition to Park, the other great news from this project is that it’s an original script from David Jagernauth. The script’s been around for a bit, since it won second place in the Scriptapalooza screenplay competition in 2010.

Park’s last film was 2013’s Stoker, but he made this enigmatic short for a clothing company this year. I’m actually really excited for Park to bring his impeccable filming skills to a new story. Fingers crossed that we see more projects like this.
