Since it seems like we’ve been hearing about this forever without any convincing evidence that it is actually going to come out, we understandably are hesitant to ever write anything about the OQO, an “ultra-personal computer” which crams a full-fledged PC running Windows XP into something slightly larger than a Pocket PC. And in fact a quick search of the site reveals that we’ve mentioned the OQO — which was supposed to debut in 2002 — no fewer than six times over the past year and a half (though mainly to wonder why it still isn’t available). Anyway, so OQO has trotted out what is beginning to look like the obligatory press release touting their “breakthrough product” that could “transform personal computing” and that it is “slated to ship in the second half of 2004.” Well, OQO, it’s time to throw down. No more press releases. No more vaporware. No more prototypes. Either produce a finished device that’s ready to ship to stores, or just stop bothering everyone.
