Dave Weinstein stopped by the offices of OQO to inspect their almost-vaporware handheld PC, the OQO uPC Model 1. The uPC sets itself apart by being a full-blown Transmeta-powered PC capable of running Windows XP (or anything else, one would imagine) but its ingenuity may be its downfall: Weinstein comes away with the impression that the device is under-powered for a notebook replacement, but not as connected as a PDA (he really wants 3G services). With competition around the corner from Flipstart, OQO has a rough road ahead of them. It’s a nice device, but does anyone actually want to use it?
