Today’s Oscar nominations brought a fair amount of genre representation, thanks to movies like Barbie, Poor Things, and io9’s top movie of 2023, Godzilla Minus One. Of course, the Academy traditionally favors dramas, so there were some notable snubs of standout sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and animated movies too.
Here are all this year’s genre nominees and where to stream them (when applicable)—plus other 2023 genre titles (taken from io9’s best movies of 2023 list) that got passed over by the Academy, but are still well worth adding to your viewing queue. The Oscars will be held March 10 in Hollywood, CA; they’ll be broadcast on ABC.
