These particular protestors are from a demonstration that just happened in London, and they’re protesting against plans by a mining company, Vedanta, to mine the Orissa region of Western India. Vedanta hopes to create a large bauxite mine in the Nyamgiri Hills, which are home to the indigenous Dongria Kondh tribe — or, as the protestors’ signs say, the “Real Avatar Tribe.” Photos by Oli Scarff/Getty Images.
