Pablo Picasso’s mural-sized painting Guernica commemorated the tragedy and chaos of the Spanish Civil War. Cynthia Rodgers’ reinterpretation of the famous painting thrusts a very different set of subjects into that Cubist chaos: the X-Men.

Comic Book Resources latest “The Line is Drawn” art competition asked artists to imagine popular comic book characters redesigned by radically different artists Rodgers chose to draw the X-Men as Picasso might, casting them in one of his most famous works.

Head over to CBR to see the other entries, including Mike Mignola’s Avengers and HR Giger’s (pretty much NSFW) Catwoman. You can also see more of Rodgers’ work on her deviantART page.
