JOEL JOHNSON — The Possio PX30 is a sort of ‘Babelfish for networks’, acting as a router between normally disparate interfaces and protocols, allowing devices that use different types of networking to talk to each other. While it’s not uncommon for routers these days to have interfaces between Ethernet and WiFi, the PX30 adds into the mix Bluetooth and USB, as well, and can add GPRS and others as extended options.
The entire device is packed onto a 300Mhz single-board computer running Linux, and provides a number of open-source management tools.
Anyone who has tried to network across different mediums can tell you what a hassle it can be. To have a single box acting as a hardware ‘glue language’ could save some poor network administrator or wireless hacker a lot of tears.
