Receiptmate for iOS: Make E-Budgeting Easier With Scannable Receipts

No one save receipts anymore. We buy nearly everything either online or with a credit card, so since we basically have an electronic record of most of our purchases, it's become too easy to toss any potential paper trail. But some of our payments are still made in cash, and if you really want to track your budget, you need to track it all. Receiptmate makes it easy.

What does it do?

Receiptmate is an Evernote add-in that scans your receipts and saves them for you, so you can toss it afterwards like you normally would. It even saves a photo of the receipt, so you can pull it up at your leisure later. Once you scan the receipt, the app lets you highlight the total amount and tax, tells you the total of all your receipts, and compiles it in your Evernote Notebook automatically. To add tags and change Notebooks, you simply use Evernote just as you would normally.

Why do we like it?

Keeping a budget is a hassle, because normally, you're forced to enter the data manually if you want an electronic copy of everything you buy. This way, all your receipts already get uploaded into you're already-present electronic budget, so scanning a receipt is just as simple as scanning a credit card. Receiptmate will even make a PDF report based on the tags, notebooks, or amounts you choose. The app currently only works with US Dollars, British Pounds, and Euros, and you will need an Evernote account to be able to use the app. But if you're someone who likes to watch what you spend, this is one of the easiest, hassle-free ways to keep everything in one place.
