That Amazon is getting ready to release a smartphone is no real secret or surprise at this point, rumors have been flying for ages. But what it will look like is still a mystery. BGR says it has had some time with a prototype in a case that hides its true form, but is now sharing these images that seem to be of what the phone will look like naked. And it looks like a phone!
Initial looks at the phone in its weird protective case made it seem like it would look a lot similar to an iPhone, and if these renders are accurate, that's not far off from the truth. Of course, there isn't too much you can do to deviate from just being a slab, and it looks like Amazon is doing the minimum.
What Amazon's phone (apparently) lacks in style it will make for in craziness, what with an oft-rumored array of six cameras that will enable strange gesture interactions along with who knows what else. An Amazon data plan? It definitely seems possible.
There's no way to be sure if these renders are actually from Amazon, and no way to tell if they are up-to-date even if they are. But BGR has a particularly good track record when it comes to predicting Amazon hardware, so there's a good chance that this is what you can expect. And really, it should come as no surprise that the look would be the most boring part. [BGR]
