Usually, when television networks resurrect long-canceled series, the newly-revived characters’ stories pick up sometime in the future,  with everyone having gone on living their lives. That’s not the case with Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. Apparently, they’ve been stuck in the ‘90s.

The first clip from the upcoming special, shared at this year’s Comic-Con, featured Rocko, Spunky, Heffer, and Filburt step out of Rocko’s O-Town home expecting to find the city as it was when last we saw them—1996. As the group steps onto the sidewalk and begins to wander around, the realize just how much things have changed. The old comic book shop that Rocko used to work at has been replaced by a 3D printer. All of the movies have superheroes in them and every single corner has an identical coffee shop. Everyone is obsessed with new technology. And Rocko doesn’t like it any of it.

Basically, the poor wallaby has the exact same reaction you would have had if you were randomly went to sleep and woke up in 2018—which is when Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling premieres on Nickelodeon.
