A struggling novelist imagines his perfect woman so hard, she comes into being as a flesh-and-blood person, in Ruby Sparks. It seems awfully reminiscent of Weird Science, but Ruby Sparks does star Paul Dano, and is made by the people behind Little Miss Sunshine. So that’s two great things going for it.
In the newly released trailer, a young man dreams up his perfect girl to overcome his writer’s block. Only to freak out when the gorgeous creature magically appears in his life. Oh, and just like in Weird Science, he can program his lady love simply by writing on his magical typewriter. But unlike in Weird Science, Ruby doesn’t know she isn’t real.
Ruby Sparks hits theaters on July 25th.
