Samsung is releasing a new 3D-capable Plasma TV at the sweet price of $989—a full $400 less than its current entry-level 3D set. The 50" PN50C490 sports an odd 1365 x 768p resolution, but hey—cheap(er) 3D.

The PN50C490, available for pre-order now, also offers 3 HDMI 1.4 inputs, a USB port, and ConnectShare for easy digital camera hookups. Dorky Samsung Active 3D glasses are still a must here, alas. [HDGuru]

Hey, with resolution like that this is the perfect TV for all of those streaming high definition 3D movies out there! It is also the ideal option to be able to brag to your friends about how you are already sporting a third dimension of home theater - and don't forget to invite them over to watch all of that fantastic 3D content available out there. Like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. And, that food flying from the sky flick. And that show about a pancake on a school. Lots of great stuff and for less than a grand! What a deal!
