Seagate ST1.3 1-Inch Drive: Smaller Yet Holds More Data

The saga of the incredible shrinking drive continues, with Seagate announcing its ST1.3 12GB 1-inch hard drive. Using perpendicular technology, Seagate’s drive not only holds 50% more data, but it

s 23% smaller and consumes 30% less power. It’s also tough, too, able to survive a 4.5-foot drop onto concrete. This makes it especially well-suited for its target market of mobile devices. Pricing was unavailable, but it’s expected to ship in the third quarter of this year.
