It was only a matter of time before selfies became the basis of a horror-movie plot — after all, the genre sure does love tapping technology as a fear-delivery mechanism.

Stepping up the haunted-phone plot of One Missed Call (and its remake) is Selfie, a just-announced Singapore-Cambodia co-production that will be “built around the me, me, me syndrome of selfie obsession.”

Plus: ghosts.

“The story revolves around three models [who] find themselves in paranormal situations on top of their own individual emotional struggles while navigating the tough social media and fashion scene in Asia,” according to a spokesperson for production company Advent Media Group.

Things that could be worse: a horror movie set in the world of people who obsessively take pictures of their food, for instance. #noooo!
