Syfy has ordered a pilot for a show called Prototype, which is, shockingly for this day and age, not based on an existing book, comic, or movie.
Prototype comes from writer Tony Basgallop (24: Live Another Day, Resurrection) and will have Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) on hand to direct the pilot. The official description is intriguing and vague as heck:
PROTOTYPE centers on three unlikely cohorts who inadvertently stumble upon an invention that challenges the very nature of quantum physics – a discovery which in turn puts their lives in grave danger.
Three people find something to do that somehow puts them in danger. But a) quantum physics opens a lot of doors that explain why they might want to keep a twist secret, and b) Fresnadillo at least ensures that the pilot will be something I want to see.
