Something Amazing Happens When You Chill Sugar Cubes in Liquid Nitrgoen

It’s not something most people would stumble across. But Mikhail Svarichevsky has found that sugarcubes glow bright green in UV light when they’ve been dunked in liquid nitrogen.

He’s found that the super-cooled cubes (possible band name?) phosphoresce when they chilled to -195°C. A fun, if slightly weird and dangerous, party piece if ever there was one. [YouTube]
